BackaBuddy is a South African crowdfunding platform that is designed to help individuals and businesses create online campaigns to raise funds for causes.

The problem

With its original platform spanning over 11 years, Backabuddy faced limitations in its technology stack, hindering its growth rate and the incorporation of new functionalities. To effectively serve more campaigns and donors, Backabuddy recognised the necessity to rebuild its platform in alignment with its long-term vision.

The solution

We stepped in to assist Backabuddy in crafting the second version of their platform, priming them for scalability. Our development team initiated work on the new platform while Backabuddy’s existing team continued supporting the legacy version. The project encompassed rebuilding the Backabuddy platform, seamlessly migrating users and campaigns from the legacy platform to the new version, and successfully launching Version 2 in Q1 2024. Post-launch, our dedication persisted through continuous development and support efforts, ensuring ongoing optimisation and enhancement of Version 2.

Results

In close collaboration with the Backabuddy team, we successfully launched Version 2 of the platform in Q1 2024, marking a significant milestone in Backabuddy’s evolution. Our commitment extends into 2024 with continued support and enhancement efforts for Version 2.
